As reported by Bijié Wǎng, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the creator of the UPI payment system, has confirmed its participation and sponsorship in the 2025 India Blockchain Week (IBW) from December 1 to 7 in Bangalore. The event will see NPCI engage with developers and global industry leaders to explore how blockchain can enhance India’s payment infrastructure, identity systems, and cross-border remittances. The organization is also fueling speculation about a potential India Rupee-backed stablecoin (ARC), which could be launched as early as Q1 2026, though no official announcement has been made.
