The startup Nous Research, which developed the open-source Hermes proxy, has completed a $90 million Series B round at a $1.5 billion valuation, confirming prior reports by TechCrunch.
This round was led by Robot Ventures, with additional participants including Nvidia, Union Square Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Samsung, and 1789 Capital. Donald Trump Jr. is a partner at 1789 Capital. Following this new funding, the three-year-old startup has raised a total of $158 million to date.
According to company estimates, the open-source Hermes proxy has gained significant popularity among developers and individual users, with over 24 million clones, driving approximately 2.5% of global AI token usage.
The funds will be used to help Nous Research enter the enterprise market by launching "Hermes for Enterprises," enabling businesses to deploy customized AI agents that handle multi-step workflows while ensuring data privacy and security.
According to The Wall Street Journal, as of mid-September 2026, Nous's annualized revenue was approximately $36 million, with expectations to surpass $100 million by the end of 2026.
