A Bitcoin address tied to the Noah Doe lawsuit moved 411.45 BTC ($33.4 million) on Sunday, its first activity since 2013. The funds went to an unlabeled address, not an exchange. Galaxy Research linked the address to a 2025 CFT campaign targeting dormant wallets. The lawsuit, filed under New York law, seeks 3.8 million BTC as abandoned property. Rising onchain activity from old wallets complicates the case. The bitcoin ETF approval debate may also influence how courts view ownership and control of dormant assets.

A Bitcoin address beginning with "13Coop" moved 411.45 BTC worth about $33.4 million on Sunday, according to Galaxy Research. The address had never made an outgoing transfer since the address was first funded on September 11, 2013. Arkham data shows the coins reached a single new address, where the coins remain. The transfer went to an unlabeled address rather than an exchange, and the owner's plans to sell are unclear.

Arkham data puts Bitcoin's price around $130 when the wallet was funded, meaning the coins cost about $54,000. Galaxy estimated the holder's average cost basis near $127 and the unrealized gain at more than 64,000%.

Galaxy labeled the sending address "Noah Doe #970," identifying the address as one of 39,069 dormant addresses named in a New York lawsuit. A pseudonymous plaintiff called Noah Doe and two Wyoming companies filed the lawsuit this year seeking ownership of dormant wallets as abandoned property. The plaintiffs argue that the wallets, holding about 3.8 million BTC, qualify as abandoned property under New York's lost-and-found law. The plaintiffs hold none of the private keys.

Galaxy also identified the address as a recipient of tiny Bitcoin deposits carrying embedded messages during a 2025 campaign targeting dormant wallets. Galaxy has described the campaign as groundwork for the abandonment claim. Arkham data shows a series of those deposits, some labeled as phishing.

Transfers from targeted wallets weaken the lawsuit's premise. Spending coins requires the private keys, suggesting that at least some targeted wallets are not abandoned. Galaxy head of research Alex Thorn has said the pace of dormant "Noah Doe" coins moving onchain has been accelerating month over month.

Galaxy Research data shows Bitcoin's oldest coins have been moving at an unusual pace in 2026. A Satoshi-era wallet containing Bitcoin mined in 2010 moved coins a little over a week ago for the first time in 16 years. About $161 million in decade-old Bitcoin was transferred over roughly two weeks in late September. A whale moved $377 million last week after holding through every major market crash since 2020.
