Morgan Stanley quietly added nearly 1,000 BTC over the past two weeks, pushing its tracked holdings above 5,700 BTC, blockchain intelligence firm Arkham reports. Arkham’s latest portfolio snapshot shows the investment bank now controls 5,761 BTC — roughly $369.9 million at current on-chain prices — making it one of the larger institutional Bitcoin holders the platform tracks. Rather than one headline-grabbing purchase, the accumulation came in a string of transfers during the recent market pullback, a pattern Arkham describes as “buying the dip.” Transaction logs point to Coinbase Prime as the primary source of inflows, with several large deposits recorded over the period: 495.8 BTC, 171.9 BTC, 166.2 BTC, 154.8 BTC, 143.3 BTC, 126.1 BTC, 120.4 BTC and an additional 34.4 BTC within the last 14 hours. After factoring in smaller operational movements — including a 1 BTC transfer back to Coinbase Prime — Morgan Stanley’s net increase is roughly 1,000 BTC. Arkham links the portfolio to 11 tracked wallet addresses and classifies the entity as a fund, an exchange-traded product and a Bitcoin whale. Arkham’s data does not clarify whether these transfers represent direct purchases by Morgan Stanley, client subscriptions into its spot Bitcoin product, or other operational flows into the investment vehicle. Still, the staged accumulation and Coinbase Prime origins suggest institutional settlement activity tied to the firm’s spot Bitcoin offering. The buying comes on the heels of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s June announcement of a referral arrangement with Galaxy Digital. Under that program, eligible high-net-worth clients can lend cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ether and Solana to Galaxy and receive shares in spot crypto investment products — including the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust — enabling clients to move crypto exposure into regulated vehicles without first selling their assets. Morgan Stanley and Galaxy say the structure can speed in-kind onboarding to exchange-traded products by as much as 75% versus conventional processes. Morgan Stanley’s latest on-chain accumulation underscores a broader trend of growing institutional participation in spot Bitcoin products. However, Arkham cautions that its wallet-level tracking ties assets to Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin product and does not identify underlying investors or distinguish firm-owned holdings from assets managed on behalf of clients.
