Moonshot AI Responds to Distillation Allegations, Claims 15-Day K3 Model Training

ChainCatcher report: In response to allegations by Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, that Moonshot AI referenced Anthropic’s Fable when developing the K3 model and built a large-scale distillation platform, Moonshot AI team member Randy Xia responded that Fable was released on July 1, while K3 went live on July 15—meaning, according to this timeline, the team accomplished model research, distillation, training, and deployment within just 15 days. He joked, “We trained an entirely new state-of-the-art model in just 15 days—that’s practically a Guinness World Record.” Previously, Kratsios claimed that Moonshot AI had established an internal platform capable of大规模 distilling U.S. models, circumventing detection by switching between multiple access methods, and had procured GB300 servers and accessed related equipment in Thailand for training. The U.S. side stated it supports legitimate distillation but opposes the covert industrial theft of technology through secret distillation practices.
