IT Home, November 4: According to local reports today by the Nikkei News, Mitsui Chemicals plans to acquire JSR, the world's second-largest photoresist manufacturer, for over 1.3 trillion Japanese yen (approximately RMB 54.816 billion at current exchange rates).
The report states that this transaction is expected to surpass Showa Denko's 2020 acquisition of Hitachi Chemical (the two companies later merged to form Resonac), setting a new record for the largest transaction in Japan's chemical industry.

In 2024, Japan’s government-backed fund, the Japan Investment Corporation (JIC), privatized and delisted JSR for approximately ¥1 trillion, subsequently divesting its loss-making businesses to focus on its core semiconductor materials segment.
Mitsui Chemicals stated that acquiring JSR is one of the potential strategies being considered to enhance corporate value, but no final decision has been made.
