ChainThink reports that on July 30, according to Reuters, Millennium Management, one of the world’s largest multi-strategy hedge funds, is in talks to raise approximately $20 billion in new capital—significantly exceeding its initial target and potentially setting a new record for the largest fundraising in the firm’s history.
This funding round is expected to proceed in two phases. Millennium also plans to exchange capital managed by external fund managers, a task overseen by President Ajay Nagpal.
Reuters, citing a Goldman Sachs report, said the hedge fund industry is poised for another strong year, driven by the AI boom.
In the first half of 2026, all major hedge fund strategies experienced net inflows for the first time in five years, with quantitative and multi-strategy funds attracting particularly strong capital.
Millennium achieved a 10.5% return in 2025 and currently manages assets exceeding $92 billion.
