MicroVision (NASDAQ:MVIS) shares climbed 3% in pre-market trading on November 2, 2026, after revealing an expanded partnership with FieldAI. The deal will embed MicroVision’s sensing tech into autonomous platforms, targeting defense and industrial robotics. FieldAI has already tested the IRIS lidar and ordered MOVIA sensors. Rising trading volume and a shift in the fear and greed index may have fueled the move. The CEO emphasized the firm’s edge in real-time 3D mapping and long-range perception. Short interest and recent earnings could also be factors.

MicroVision shares gained almost 3% in Monday's premarket trading following Sunday's announcement that MicroVision had expanded a collaboration with FieldAI. FieldAI develops autonomous robotic systems for government and industrial uses. The collaboration will extend FieldAI's work to incorporate MicroVision sensing technology into autonomous ground and aerial platforms. The expansion could create commercial opportunities in defense, industrial robotics and autonomous navigation.

FieldAI's Federal division previously evaluated MicroVision's IRIS long-range lidar sensor on autonomous ground vehicles. MicroVision and FieldAI also demonstrated an aerial mapping solution combining MicroVision's MOVIA Air Plus sensor with the Robinson Unmanned Spirit drone. FieldAI has bought MicroVision MOVIA sensors for development and evaluation across government and industrial autonomous robotics projects. MicroVision CEO Glen DeVos emphasized MicroVision's ability to support autonomous robotics with long-range ground-vehicle perception, real-time 3D mapping and obstacle detection.

High short interest may have magnified Monday's gain, with recent strong earnings potentially encouraging investors with short positions to buy shares to close those positions. Benzinga Pro data put MicroVision's short float at 7.15 million shares, equivalent to 21.1% of the publicly traded float. MicroVision's market capitalization was about $46 million at Friday's close. MicroVision remains a micro-cap company susceptible to large price changes during periods of elevated trading activity.

MicroVision released third-quarter results on October 28. MicroVision reported $4.8 million in year-to-date revenue, nearly five times the $1.0 million recorded during the first nine months of 2025. MicroVision's gross margin reached 50%, improving from a negative margin in the corresponding prior-year period. MicroVision's adjusted EBITDA loss decreased from $11.7 million to $11.1 million.

MicroVision maintained revenue guidance of $10 million to $15 million for full-year 2026, citing strong customer demand, a purchase order backlog and rapidly expanding shipping schedules. MicroVision forecast that revenue would at least double in 2027. MicroVision also projected cash burn would decline to $40 million for the year. DeVos cited new defense programs, including Overland AI, among key developments. DeVos also highlighted an exclusive strategic alliance generating immediate ITS revenue and Blue-Band commercial contracts. DeVos highlighted MicroVision subsidiary Scantinel's entry into high-speed optical connectivity for AI data centers.

MicroVision shares traded at $1.39 in Monday's premarket session, a gain of 2.96%. Benzinga Pro data showed MicroVision trading close to the stock's 52-week low of $1.08.
