Over the past two days, a significant signal has emerged in the enterprise AI market.

Two days ago, AWS announced a $1 billion investment to establish a new Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) organization, embedding AI engineers directly into customer teams to help businesses co-develop and deploy agentic AI solutions within days to weeks.

On July 2, Microsoft officially launched Microsoft Frontier Company. The official Microsoft blog headline reads: Microsoft Frontier Company: AI engineering that amplifies and protects your intelligence. (Link to the official announcement and website provided at the end.)

This is not a standard product launch; rather, Microsoft has established a new operational business dedicated to helping global customers achieve what it calls Frontier Transformation—driving enterprise-level transformation through AI.

Microsoft stated it will invest $2.5 billion and deploy 6,000 industry and engineering experts to work on-site with customers to jointly design, co-create, deploy, and continuously optimize large-scale AI systems, with the goal of delivering measurable business outcomes rather than remaining stuck in pilot projects and proof-of-concept stages.

When viewed together, these two actions clearly indicate that enterprise AI adoption is moving from “selling models, tools, and Copilots” to “sending teams on-site, reengineering processes, and delivering results.”
