Odaily Planet Daily reports that Microsoft is considering offering some of its self-developed AI models with open weights. Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI, said that as Chinese AI models grow in popularity among U.S. users, the company is evaluating this possibility. This move suggests a potential shift in Microsoft’s AI strategy, as it seeks to enhance competitiveness against Chinese AI developers such as DeepSeek and Moonshot AI, while reducing its reliance on OpenAI.
Microsoft also stated its intention to maintain a multimodal strategy, allowing customers to use models from OpenAI or Anthropic based on their specific needs. (Nikkei)
