ChainThink reports that on July 17, according to CNBC, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella criticized Anthropic for imposing usage restrictions on the Fable model during an internal meeting with Copilot engineers, stating that its method of rejecting certain requests was "overly editorially controlled" and lacked justification.
Anthropic's support page states that when users ask about certain aspects of large model development, the platform may respond using an older version of the model.
Previously, Anthropic stated that the new security measures implemented after Fable 5's return online might mistakenly classify more harmless requests as content requiring interception.
Microsoft previously announced a $5 billion investment in Anthropic, and Anthropic has committed to spending $30 billion on Azure.
Some Microsoft Copilot products also use Anthropic models, and Nadella’s remarks involve key partners and customers.
Nadella also stated that enterprises should be able to develop customized models at lower costs and control their internal data, rather than having AI token resources monopolized by a few companies. He said it should not be the case that only two global companies own token capital while everyone else must rent it.
