IT Home, October 15: Tech media NeoWin today (October 15) published a blog post stating that, in enterprise knowledge-intensive scenarios, Microsoft has achieved a technological breakthrough for AI agents such as Copilot. Without upgrading the underlying large model, the response speed of AI agents has increased fourfold, while token consumption has been reduced by approximately 30%.
IT Home, citing a blog post, reported that Microsoft stated that in enterprise office scenarios, project information is often scattered across emails, Teams meeting notes, and technical documents. Previously, AI agents had to individually retrieve and process these fragmented data sources, resulting in high latency and significant computational costs.
The latest technology is built on SharePoint and powered by Microsoft’s new Work IQ knowledge compilation engine, which automatically transforms fragmented information across organizations into a structured knowledge base, enabling AI agents to directly and efficiently access it.
In applicable scenarios, it primarily covers cross-document Q&A, team context retrieval, summarizing meeting highlights, consolidating project statuses, retrieving internal processes, preparing client communication materials, or generating drafts based on existing materials.
This feature is now available to Frontier Preview tenants. Organizations can add a knowledge base to existing SharePoint sites, including those that support Teams channels and Microsoft 365 groups.
This preview feature is currently available only to users with pay-as-you-go billing; administrators can manage access and spending through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Microsoft also plans to extend it to custom agents in Copilot Studio and develop automated maintenance capabilities to keep knowledge bases updated with enterprise content.
