What to Know

  • Strategy chairman Michael Saylor hinted at possible Bitcoin accumulation through a cryptic chart post as company cash reaches $4 billion.

  • Company sold 1,638 BTC for about $105 million, funding STRC buybacks and dividends while direct treasury purchases remain paused since June.

Strategy chairman Michael Saylor has signaled another possible Bitcoin accumulation move through his latest cryptic post on X. According to Saylor, the StrategyTracker.com chart carried the short caption “Doing Business,” without providing further details about the company’s plans.

His post has drawn interest because Strategy currently has considerable cash available for potential capital deployment. The company holds about $4 billion in cash while Bitcoin trades below Strategy’s average acquisition price.

Strategy has not announced a direct Bitcoin purchase for its corporate balance sheet since June. Instead, the company recently reduced its Bitcoin position while addressing other financial commitments.

On August 3, Strategy disclosed the sale of 1,638 BTC for approximately $105 million. Management directed the proceeds toward STRC share repurchases and dividend payments.

However, the transaction did not materially reduce Strategy’s enormous Bitcoin position. The company remains the largest publicly traded corporate holder of the cryptocurrency.

Saylor has also developed a pattern of publishing StrategyTracker charts around significant treasury activity. Consequently, investors closely monitor these posts for possible indications about Strategy’s next capital allocation decision.

Strategy Holds 842,138 BTC With $4 Billion Available in Cash

Strategy currently holds 842,138 BTC valued at approximately $54.66 billion based on prevailing market prices. Since 2020, the company has completed 113 recorded Bitcoin acquisition rounds.

Those purchases carry an average acquisition price of approximately $75,653 per Bitcoin. However, Bitcoin’s weaker market price has pushed Strategy’s holdings below their overall acquisition cost.

Consequently, the company currently faces an unrealized Bitcoin loss of approximately $9.05 billion. That represents roughly 14.21% of the value measured against its acquisition cost.

At the same time, Strategy’s $4 billion cash position gives management considerable flexibility when considering another Bitcoin purchase. Lower prices could allow the company to reduce its average acquisition cost through additional accumulation.

Moreover, Strategy has historically used different financing methods to expand its Bitcoin holdings. Its recent capital adjustments could therefore provide greater room for management when determining its next treasury move.

Saylor has not explicitly confirmed that Strategy plans to purchase more Bitcoin. Likewise, the company has not announced any new BTC acquisition connected with his “Doing Business” post.

Strategy could preserve its liquidity, address additional corporate obligations, or allocate more capital toward Bitcoin. A confirmed purchase would represent its first direct Bitcoin treasury acquisition since June.
