According to Huoxing Finance, on August 27, Michael Burry, the real-life inspiration for "The Big Short," disclosed his latest positions: he bought NVIDIA (NVDA) calls as a hedge while simultaneously increasing his NVIDIA puts. Additionally, he increased short positions in Oracle (ORCL), Palantir (PLTR), Nebius (NBIS), and Caterpillar (CAT). On the long side, Burry added to his position in Birkenstock (BIRK) around the mid-$30 range and increased his position in Freddie Mac (FMCC) around the mid-$5 range. Burry stated that his net short stock position now exceeds 21% of his portfolio, a figure that does not include put options. He noted that the scale of his put option positions is difficult to quantify simply, as these options are typically deep out-of-the-money with distant expiration dates, representing asymmetric, high-leverage directional strategies that currently carry low market value.
