ChainCatcher reports that Simon Gerovich, CEO of Japanese publicly listed company Metaplanet, stated at the Bitcoin Asia Conference that the bottom for Bitcoin has arrived and that the era of opportunity in Asia has begun. He noted that previous cycles were dominated by the West, while the first Asian cycle has now commenced. Gerovich revealed that since Metaplanet shifted from hospitality and technology businesses to Bitcoin reserves in 2024, it currently holds approximately 43,000 Bitcoin, valued at around $3.3 billion. He emphasized that Japanese households hold about $14 trillion in financial assets, roughly half of which are stored in nearly yield-free bank deposits, and these savings are seeking new destinations. Gerovich urged Asian businesses, institutions, and savers to seize the current market conditions and build Bitcoin infrastructure within their respective regions. He stated that the end of cash hoarding strategies coincides with the emergence of new regulatory frameworks, together creating the greatest opportunity in today’s Asian markets.
