BlockBeats news, on June 30, ConsenSys, the parent company of MetaMask, announced the launch of a new self-custodial account, Money Account, integrating stablecoin yield, payments, and trading features to further expand the use of stablecoins in everyday financial scenarios.
The Money Account is built on the Monad blockchain and centered around MetaMask’s native USD stablecoin, mUSD. Users can automatically allocate funds to decentralized lending protocols such as Morpho to earn up to approximately 4% variable annual yield, with Aave support coming soon—all while maintaining full custody of their assets.
Additionally, users can directly spend funds from their account at merchants that accept Mastercard via the MetaMask Card, and can also directly trade tokens, perpetual contracts, and participate in prediction markets within MetaMask, without manually transferring funds between protocols.
Joe Lubin, founder and CEO of Consensys and co-founder of Ethereum, said that Money Account will enable users to grow and spend their assets directly within MetaMask, further advancing stablecoins from transactional tools to everyday payment and wealth management solutions.
