ChainCatcher report: On Thursday, MetaMask launched Agent Wallet, a self-custodial wallet that enables AI agents to execute on-chain transactions within user-defined limits, targeting traders and developers who use AI agents to monitor markets, identify opportunities, and autonomously execute trades. Users can set spending caps, approve specific protocols, select risk settings, and choose between different levels of automation via Guard Mode and Beast Mode. Agent Wallet supports Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenClaw, Hermes, OpenCode, as well as Hyperliquid and Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible networks. Agent Wallet supports gas abstraction, allowing users to pay network fees using the asset being transferred, without requiring native tokens of the respective network. MetaMask states that supported transactions undergo transaction simulation, threat scanning, and intelligent MEV protection; eligible transactions that pass security checks but still result in losses may be covered by up to $10,000 in monthly Transaction Protection.
