According to an internal memo, Meta is encouraging engineers to use its AI coding tool, MetaCode, to enhance their AI programming skills. Engineers are required to apply MetaCode to at least one code change per week, with these updates used to refine the AI models. The initiative aims to collect large-scale, real-world engineering data to improve code generation, debugging, and development. This effort comes amid rising interest in AI and crypto news and reflects Meta’s broader push to compete in the AI space.

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Meta is encouraging thousands of its internal engineers to use its proprietary AI programming assistant, MetaCode, to enhance the code-generation capabilities of its AI models and accelerate its competition with OpenAI and Anthropic in the field of AI programming.

It is reported that Maher Saba, Vice President of the AI Engineering department at Meta, requested in an internal memo last month that company engineers use MetaCode to complete at least one code “diff” per week; these code changes, after review, will be integrated to improve AI models.

Meta aims to accumulate more engineering practice data by running AI coding tools at scale in real software development environments, thereby improving the model's performance in code generation, debugging, and software development tasks.

Currently, AI programming has become a key area of competition among large models. Tools such as Anthropic’s Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex are gaining attention from developers, while Meta aims to narrow the gap between its AI coding capabilities and industry leaders through extensive internal use cases.

In recent years, Meta has consistently increased its investment in artificial intelligence, building an enterprise AI ecosystem through proprietary large models, AI infrastructure, and development tools. The push to widely adopt MetaCode internally is seen as a key initiative to enhance the quality of model training data and real-world application capabilities. (The Information)
