Based on 528btc, the discovery of the EMFI (Electromagnetic Fault Injection) vulnerability in MediaTek's Dimensity 7300 chip has reignited concerns over hardware security in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The flaw allows attackers to bypass memory access checks and gain control at the highest ARM architecture privilege level (EL3), highlighting a critical weakness in smartphones—increasingly used for crypto transactions. As the vulnerability resides in the chip’s boot ROM, it cannot be patched. The issue has accelerated the adoption of hardware wallets as a defense against both physical and software attacks, with the global hardware wallet market projected to grow from $582.98 million in 2025 to $3.30086 billion by 2033.
