Mastercard launched its Stablecoin Security service at Money20/20 USA to help financial institutions screen stablecoin transactions for fraud and sanctions risks. The tool evaluates risks before funds are on-chain, using transaction context to generate risk scores. Banks can integrate these scores via API into their compliance systems. Borderless.xyz and Keyrails are initial partners. The service will expand globally by 2027, beginning in North America. This initiative aligns with increasing regulatory scrutiny of stablecoins and rising demand for secure liquidity and crypto market infrastructure.

According to The Block, Mastercard announced at Money20/20 USA the launch of Stablecoin Security, a risk intelligence service for stablecoins. The service enables financial institutions to assess stablecoin payment risks before funds are on-chain by tracing the origin of funds, identifying potential links to fraud, scams, sanctions violations, and other financial crimes, and generating a risk score based on transaction context. Banks can integrate the score into their existing risk and compliance systems via API. Borderless.xyz and Keyrails are the first partners. The service will initially launch in North America, with global commercial availability expected by 2027.

Mastercard, citing research from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), states that of the 141 million transactions on Ethereum in 2025, there were 593 million stablecoin transfer events, nearly 60% of which occurred in complex, multi-step transactions rather than simple one-to-one payments.
