Lumentum, a leader in optical communication, CEO Michael Hurlston stated today that due to tech companies racing to build faster AI data centers, the company’s optical component capacity through early 2029 is already fully sold out. Demand for some products will remain unmet by approximately 70% into next year, while for others, 30% of demand will still be unfulfilled through 2028. In April this year, Hurlston had indicated that he expected all of 2028’s annual capacity to be booked within two quarters.
