CoinDesk reports:

Kansas City, Missouri, USA, October 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Global legal technology and services provider Lineal today announced the acquisition of Forentec, headquartered in Switzerland. Forentec provides electronic discovery, digital forensics, cybersecurity, and open-source intelligence (OSINT) services.

This acquisition will strengthen Lineal’s presence in Switzerland and expand the company’s capabilities in digital investigations and cybersecurity. Lineal stated that it will bring Forentec’s expertise in cybersecurity, OSINT, and digital forensics to its global clients, while also enabling Forentec’s clients to access Lineal’s broader range of e-discovery, investigation, managed review, and AI capabilities.

Forentec, founded in 2015 and headquartered near Zurich, serves law firms, corporations, financial institutions, insurance companies, and public agencies with expertise in complex investigations, litigation, cyber incidents, and other data-intensive matters. The company has evolved from a digital forensics practice into a multidisciplinary team specializing in electronic forensics, digital forensics, cybersecurity, and OSINT. Its services include identifying and preserving digital evidence, electronic discovery and managed review, cyber incident response, and intelligence gathering and analysis from open sources.

Lineal CEO Major Baisden said, “Forentec brings far more to Lineal than just another point on the map. It brings us an exceptional team with deep expertise in areas increasingly relevant to the problems our clients are already seeking to solve. Digital investigations cannot be easily confined to a single category. Digital forensics, forensic analysis, cybersecurity, and intelligence are increasingly overlapping, and joining Forentec expands our global forensic services.”

Lionel Bloch, founder and managing partner of Forentec, will remain with the company and join Lineal to help expand the company’s cybersecurity and OSINT capabilities globally, while collaborating with Forentec’s existing team.

Bloch said: “We built Forentec around technical expertise, a cautious approach, and our ability to assist clients in high-risk situations. Joining Lineal allows us to retain these strengths while giving our clients access to a broader global organization, more technology, and expanded e-discovery and review capabilities. It also creates opportunities for us to bring the specialized expertise we’ve developed in Switzerland to clients beyond the local market.”

This acquisition builds on Lineal’s ongoing investment in Switzerland and the broader EMEA region. Previously, the company appointed David Kern as EMEA General Manager. Kern previously served as Global Head of Electronic Discovery Processing and Review Management at UBS in Zurich, bringing extensive experience leading complex investigations and global electronic discovery operations.

Kern stated: “Forentec’s capabilities are highly complementary to Lineal’s core electronic discovery, review, and legal technology services. Their expertise in digital forensics, cybersecurity, and OSINT adds technical depth to areas that frequently arise before, during, or alongside forensic investigations. Through this acquisition, Lineal has also established a significant business presence in Switzerland, creating a stronger regional platform to support complex, data-driven matters across the EMEA region.”

Baisden added, "Our clients are increasingly facing issues that span borders, technologies, and disciplines. This acquisition is another step toward building a global team capable of addressing these challenges where they arise."
