The creator economy and gig economy rely on fast, low-friction payments. Many recipients already hold PayPal or Venmo accounts: as of the end of Q2 2026, PayPal had over 400 million active accounts across approximately 200 markets; Venmo reached 67 million monthly active accounts in Q4 2025.

PayPal Payouts is now available in 96 global markets and 24 currencies. This service allows merchants to send payments using only the recipient’s email address, phone number, or Venmo username, regardless of whether they already have a PayPal or Venmo account.

To date, its parent company, Lianlian DigiTech, has served over 13.3 million customers. Its services span more than 200 countries and regions, support transactions and settlements in over 140 currencies, and connect with more than 180 global e-commerce platforms.

This partnership combines LianLian Global’s cross-border payment, foreign exchange, and compliance infrastructure with PayPal’s global wallet network. Key services include:

  • Pay to PayPal: LianLian Global customers can pay PayPal account holders in 96 markets using just the recipient’s email address or phone number.

Sandra Lam, Vice CEO of LianLian Global, said: “Social commerce is creating a new economy, where creators, influencers, and independent sellers drive discovery and sales alongside the platforms they sell on. Fast, cross-border, low-amount payments to these participants are precisely what fuels the network effects of social commerce. We believe that our partnership with PayPal is a significant step toward building a payment infrastructure for the global gig economy.”

This partnership expands LianLian Global’s payment coverage and supports its growth in the U.S. and global markets as its cross-border platform expands its creator and contractor programs.
