IT Home, October 23 — According to Sina Tech today, Yang Yuanqing, Chairman and CEO of Lenovo Group, shared his latest insights on the future development trends of the AI industry and Lenovo’s strategy during an internal leadership development program.
Yang Yuanqing believes that as large model parameter scales enter the trillion range and token usage continues to expand, improving AI computing efficiency and reducing token usage costs will become critical challenges for the large-scale adoption of AI.
He predicts that 80% of tokens in the future will be generated on endpoints and at the edge. This means that as AI applications evolve from centralized cloud computing toward collaborative end-edge-cloud architectures, an increasing number of AI inference tasks are expected to be completed on endpoints and at the edge, creating new growth opportunities for personal computing devices and edge infrastructure.
Regarding the development of personal AI, Yang Yuanqing believes that as personal AI becomes increasingly widespread, everyone will need a home server or their own AI center. This means that, in the future, personal computing will no longer be limited to a single PC or smartphone, but will evolve into a dedicated computing system centered around individual data, models, and agents.
Yang Yuanqing also identified a trend: in the future, many devices will no longer be used directly by humans, but by agents. As agents shift from answering questions to autonomously executing tasks, future computing devices will need to meet not only human interaction requirements but also adapt to the needs of agents for continuous operation, collaboration, and automated task execution.
In recent years, in addition to consistently leading the PC market, Lenovo has also made strategic investments in AI. According to Lenovo Group's first fiscal quarter report (April 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026), its global market share for AI-powered personal computers reached a record high of 25.1% for the first fiscal quarter.
According to The Wall Street Journal today, citing sources familiar with the matter, DeepSeek has completed a new round of financing worth tens of billions of RMB, with investors from the Lenovo ecosystem participating.
