Kun KUN has received principal approval from the Hong Kong SFC for regulated activities under Classes 1, 4, and 9. The approval includes virtual asset-related services for Classes 1 and 4, and general asset management for Class 9. This supports its trading advisory services for crypto strategies and strengthens its compliance framework. The approval encompasses retail customer services and marks Kun KUN’s first major step into regulated operations. The SFC granted approval based on its business model and risk controls.

ME News reports that on September 10 (UTC+8), companies under Kun KUN received provisional approval from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong for regulated activities under Type 1 (dealing in securities), Type 4 (advising on securities), and Type 9 (asset management). The Type 1 and Type 4 approvals cover virtual asset-related business and retail client services, while Type 9 covers general asset management.

This is the first time Kun KUN has applied for the aforementioned regulated activities, and it has obtained preliminary approvals for Classes 1, 4, and 9 all at once; the scopes of Classes 1 and 4 simultaneously cover virtual asset-related businesses and retail client services. The SFC imposes strict requirements on applicants regarding professional competence, corporate governance, internal controls, and risk management. Obtaining preliminary approvals for multiple regulated activity scopes in a single initial application represents a significant milestone in Kun KUN’s compliance strategy in Hong Kong.

KUN currently operates in cross-border digital payments, on-chain finance, corporate card issuance, and AI-powered payment agents. This regulatory development provides a clearer compliance foundation for the group’s next phase of digital finance expansion. Subject to obtaining the required formal licenses and meeting relevant regulatory requirements, the group will explore product and service opportunities in areas such as virtual asset services, corporate digital asset treasury management, asset and wealth management, supply chain finance, and asset tokenization.

In Hong Kong, the group’s related entities hold licenses and registrations including MSO, TCSP, registration as a trust company under Hong Kong Cap. 29 Trustee Ordinance, and a Money Lenders Licence. Outside Hong Kong, KUN has established corresponding compliance foundations in the United States, Canada, and Europe, including资质 such as U.S. MSB, Canadian MSB, and Polish VASP, and continues to advance compliance efforts in Singapore, the Middle East, and other key markets.
