KuCoin news: BC Wong becomes CEO in 2025 following a regulatory settlement with U.S. authorities. The leadership change aims to enhance compliance. KuCoin offers futures, P2P, bots, options, and institutional tools. KYC is required for most services, with KCS fee discounts. Security features include 2FA, anti-phishing codes, and a withdrawal whitelist. In 2020, KuCoin recovered 84% of a $285 million hack and used insurance to cover the remainder. Russian users can register and trade using ruble pairs. KuCoin updates confirm the exchange remains among the top 10 globally.

Starting in 2025, BC Wong will assume the role of CEO of KuCoin. The appointment follows the resolution of regulatory claims by U.S. authorities and is part of enhanced efforts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

In its early years, KuCoin attracted users with a large number of trading pairs and altcoins that were delayed in listing on other exchanges. Later, margin and futures trading, P2P, trading bots, options, token sales, and institutional client tools were added to the spot market.

Fees and Security

To access KuCoin's core products upon registration, identity verification is required. For existing accounts that have not completed verification, limited functionality is available: selling cryptocurrency, closing futures and margin positions, and withdrawing assets from KuCoin Earn products.

The base fee for most spot and margin pairs is 0.1% for both makers and takers. A discount applies when fees are paid in KCS. On the futures market, standard rates are 0.02% for makers and 0.06% for takers.

KuCoin publishes proof of reserves based on a Merkle tree. To protect accounts, KuCoin uses two-factor authentication, a anti-phishing code, a trading password, a withdrawal address whitelist, trusted device management, and a service that verifies the authenticity of KuCoin websites, email addresses, and other communication channels.

In September 2020, KuCoin was hacked — attackers gained access to one of the exchange’s hot wallets, enabling them to withdraw approximately 230 crypto assets with a total value of $285 million at the time of the breach. Over the following months, the exchange managed to recover 84% of the stolen funds, while the remaining 16% were compensated through the platform’s insurance funds.

Working with Russian users

KuCoin offers a Russian-language version of its website and app. As of September 2026, Russian users can register, complete KYC, and trade on the platform. The P2P section maintains trading pairs with the Russian ruble, allowing users to buy and sell USDT, BTC, ETH, KCS, and USDC for fiat.

KuCoin is among the top 10 international cryptocurrency exchanges by both spot and derivatives trading volume. You can register on the exchange via the official website.
