BlockBeats news, August 4: This morning, South Korea’s KOSPI index performed weakly, while the KOSDAQ index rose strongly. The Korean exchange announced that at 10:47:51 AM (09:47 Beijing Time), it activated the buy-side circuit breaker (suspension of algorithmic trading) on the KOSDAQ market.
The KOSDAQ market has triggered buy-side circuit breakers for three consecutive trading days: on the 31st of last month, yesterday, and today. This marks the 17th occurrence this year, with 12 of those happening just last month. Strong institutional buying is driving the index higher. On today’s trading day, institutional investors net purchased 354 billion KRW on the KOSDAQ market, while retail and foreign investors net sold 167 billion KRW and 183 billion KRW, respectively.
Biotech stocks performed strongly, with Alteogen rising over 7%; LigaChem Biosciences gained 12.89%, ABL Bio rose 12.25%, HLB increased 9.55%, Peptron climbed 9.39%, and Sam Chun Dang Pharm advanced 6.00%. (Jin10)
