ME News reports that on July 20 (UTC+8), according to monitoring by Beating, Kimi has overhauled its individual membership system. The previous membership, which bundled web, app, and Kimi Code access, has been split into a General Membership and a Coding Plan. Users requiring both sets of features will now need to pay for them separately. On an annual basis, the old Andante plan cost 468 yuan and included both web access and basic Code credits. The new system’s lowest combined tier—Go plus Starter—costs 1,536 yuan, raising the entry threshold to 3.28 times the previous level, a 228% increase. For pure coding users, the changes are more complex. The new Starter plan and the old Moderato plan both cost 99 yuan per month, but the new Starter no longer includes web or app access. When requiring high-speed performance and 1 million context tokens, the monthly cost has risen from 199 yuan under the old Allegretto plan to 299 yuan under the new Explorer plan—an increase of approximately 50%. Kimi states that the new Code plans eliminate monthly usage caps, offering more tokens at the same price point. However, the company has not disclosed direct, comparable absolute credit amounts between the old and new plans. It is currently impossible to determine whether the increased token allowances offset the removal of general features and price hikes across certain tiers. Existing plans will not be forcibly migrated. Current users may continue using their subscriptions and retain auto-renewal. For those still holding the old plans, there is currently no compelling reason to switch voluntarily. (Source: BlockBeats)
