The CFT agenda gains focus this week as the U.S. Senate prepares a cloture vote on the revised CLARITY Act on September 15. The proposed law could reshape crypto regulation and boost risk-on assets. On September 16, the U.S. Federal Reserve will announce its rate decision, with a 25 basis point hike expected. Market volatility may rise following a recent consolidation phase.

Although Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have led the broader crypto industry in a horizontal consolidation over the past 24 days through September 14, 2026, higher volatility is expected this week due to several high-impact events.

On Tuesday, the Senate is expected to hold a procedural vote on the revised CLARITY Act, a proposed law in the United States set to legalize the cryptocurrency space. The CLARITY Act is set to get a cloture vote – a procedural vote used in the U.S. Senate to end a debate on a bill and bring it to a final vote – on September 15.

Earlier on Monday, Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis announced that President Donald Trump has voluntarily agreed to the requested ethics package. As such, she urged Democratic Senators, including Chris Van Hollen from Maryland, to support the bill.

“This new text includes more than 120 of Democrats’ demands. Democrats got what they wanted; now they need to take yes for an answer,” Lummis stated.

On Wednesday, September 16, the United States Federal Reserve, is expected to release its data on Interest Rates. As of press time, analysts are predicting that Fed Chair Kevin Warsh could hike the target rate to 4%, as per data from Forex Factory.

Why these crypto events matter

After 12 months of bilateral negotiations, the upcoming CLARITY Act vote has helped increase the odds for this bill getting signed into law before the end of 2026. At the time of writing, the probability of the CLARITY Act ascending into law in 2026 is 32%, up from 14% at the beginning of this month, as per metrics from Polymarket.
