Over 15 million historical academic records, dating back as far as 1989, have already been recorded on the blockchain, and nearly one million 2025 KCSE examinees’ certificates are now exclusively issued through this platform. The system is expected to eventually cover approximately 35 million verifiable records, encompassing multiple levels of education including primary, secondary, advanced diplomas, and government teacher certifications. The new system reduces verification time from weeks or even months to seconds, completely replacing the previous manual review and legacy database processes, effectively preventing fraud such as certificate forgery and counterfeit verification websites. KNEC CEO David Njengere stated that examinees can now securely access, download, and verify their KCSE certificates online without relying on physical paper certificates.
