Huoxing Finance reports that on October 16, Justin Sun recently discussed in an interview the potential threat quantum computing poses to the crypto industry, stating: “Mathematics is critical to the crypto industry, and everyone is currently focused on quantum attacks. Tron is actively implementing NIST’s post-quantum cryptography standards to enable blockchains to resist quantum attacks. This technology is already live on the testnet and is expected to launch on mainnet as early as early next year. Many people severely underestimate the destructive power of Quantum Day (Q-Day). Most in the crypto industry have no idea how slow Bitcoin’s consensus mechanism is. I’ve been in the Bitcoin community since 2012, and technological progress within the entire community has been extremely slow. Even if the entire network clearly knew a disaster would occur in two years, achieving consensus and completing an upgrade across the entire Bitcoin network within just two years would be nearly impossible. Fund managers at major U.S. financial institutions like BlackRock have not spent nearly enough time studying this issue. In their traditional mindset, it’s like an iOS bug on an iPhone—Apple releases a patch within two minutes, everyone clicks update, and the problem is solved. But the technological evolution of underlying public blockchains is entirely different. These institutions have invested tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars, yet they don’t actively participate in Bitcoin’s development, don’t understand the underlying technology, and don’t care how it evolves technically—just as fund managers who own Apple stock don’t spend their days studying the inner workings of iOS code. Quantum Day will undoubtedly be a massive problem; the market has severely underestimated the potential catastrophic impact Q-Day could have on Bitcoin’s price.”

Bitcoin breaking news: Justin Sun has raised concerns about quantum computing risks to the crypto industry, particularly Bitcoin. He noted that Bitcoin’s slow consensus mechanism impedes timely upgrades before Q-Day. Sun criticized major players like BlackRock for treating the issue as a mere software patch rather than a necessary blockchain-level overhaul. His remarks underscore growing urgency within Bitcoin breaking news circles.
