JPMorgan raised Meta to Overweight with a $820 price target, citing blockchain upgrade progress and AI growth. The bank highlighted Meta’s AI agent, Muse, which ranked No. 3 in the U.S. app store, and the Meta Model API. Analyst Doug Anmuth noted these could drive new revenue streams. Meta’s 2026 capex guidance of $125–145 billion also factored into the call. Currently, 62 analysts rate Meta as Strong Buy, with an average score of 4.64 out of 5. Crypto price news continues to reflect major institutional shifts in tech and AI sectors.

JPMorgan upgraded Meta Platforms from Neutral to Overweight on September 10, lifting its price target from $640 to $820, a move that implies roughly 25% upside from the stock’s prior close.

What changed JPMorgan’s mind

The same bank that downgraded Meta to Neutral in late April 2026 is now back in the bull camp. The April downgrade came on the back of anxiety over Meta’s enormous infrastructure spending and the absence of a clear return on anything outside advertising.

Meta’s AI agent, Muse, climbed as high as No. 3 in the U.S. app store after launch. Muse is designed to act on behalf of users, performing tasks autonomously rather than simply answering questions.

JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth flagged Muse alongside two other developments: the frontier model Muse Spark, and the rollout of the Meta Model API. In Anmuth’s view, these tools open revenue opportunities that extend well past the advertising business Meta has historically depended on.

The company’s 2026 capital expenditure guidance sits between $125 billion and $145 billion. The updated thesis is essentially that Meta is close enough to proving the return on that investment to warrant re-engagement at a higher price target.

The broader analyst picture

Sixty-two analysts currently hold a Strong Buy consensus on the stock, with an average rating of 4.64 out of 5.

Analysts have also pointed to Muse’s design emphasis on security and privacy as a meaningful differentiator, which could make Muse more defensible in enterprise-adjacent and consumer finance contexts.

Looking further out, the expectation is that a model called Watermelon will expand Meta’s revenue reach into consumer products, business intelligence, and advertising technology.

What investors are watching now

Meta’s shares moved roughly 1% higher in premarket trading following the JPMorgan upgrade.

Capital expenditure remains the swing factor. Spending between $125 billion and $145 billion on infrastructure in a single year is a bet of generational scale. If the AI products convert that investment into durable revenue streams, the current price target may look conservative in retrospect. If adoption plateaus or monetization timelines slip, the spending level will return to the center of the bear case with renewed force.
