Huo Xing Cai Jing reports that, on August 6, according to J.P. Morgan’s preliminary assessment of data from long-short hedge funds in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors, tech stock trading may be becoming increasingly reliant on retail investors following the severe sell-off in July, leading to heightened volatility. J.P. Morgan strategists, including Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, noted that Pivotal Path data shows these hedge funds incurred losses exceeding 10% in July. This drawdown does not yet account for the Situational Awareness fund, which was forced to sell the majority of its public equity portfolio last week after sharp sell-offs in semiconductors and tech stocks. Panigirtzoglou believes this suggests that other technology-focused long-short hedge funds may also have faced forced liquidations in semiconductor and memory chip stocks.
JPMorgan: After July's Tech Stock Sell-off, Retail Investors May Gain More Influence
MarsBitShare
JPMorgan analysts suggest that after July’s sharp decline in tech, media, and telecom stocks, retail investors may now play a larger role in trading, influencing market movements. Value investing in crypto could attract increased attention as hedge funds in these sectors lost over 10% in July, with some forced to sell significant portions of their holdings due to falling semiconductor and tech stock prices. Traders are monitoring key support and resistance levels as volatility rises.
