Odaily Planet Daily reports: Thanks to early investments in standout tech companies such as OpenAI and SpaceX, venture capitalist Josh Kushner has seen his wealth surge this year, and the assets under his Thrive Capital have nearly doubled due to their bets on the artificial intelligence wave.
According to reports, Josh Kushner's wealth nearly tripled this year, placing him in the club of trillionaires (billionaires). As the founder of Thrive Capital, he previously earned substantial returns from investments in companies such as Instagram, Spotify, and OpenAI, making him one of Silicon Valley’s most successful venture capitalists in recent years.
On August 12, rumors emerged that the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers were being sold to former Disney CEO Bob Iger and Josh Kushner at a record valuation of $12.5 billion. However, Josh Kushner did not mention the Lakers transaction on social media that day; instead, he celebrated another AI-related investment. On the same day, Thrive Holdings, which Josh Kushner founded in 2025, completed a $2 billion funding round with investors including SoftBank, valuing the company at $12.5 billion. The firm aims to acquire traditional service businesses and drive their transformation using artificial intelligence technologies.
Josh Kushner said: "We are incredibly fortunate to be building during such a time of profound innovation."
Over the past several months, Josh Kushner has frequently appeared at key events in the tech and capital circles. He has consistently invested in the AI industry through Thrive Capital and maintained close ties with OpenAI executives. In July this year, he attended the wedding of Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce, followed by the annual Billionaires’ Retreat in Sun Valley, where he was seen alongside OpenAI President Greg Brockman.
Market participants believe that venture capital firms with key AI assets, such as OpenAI, are among the biggest beneficiaries as the AI investment boom continues, with Josh Kushner having amassed significant wealth growth through his early bets on the AI ecosystem. (Forbes)
