CNBC's Jim Cramer urged Nvidia to use the company's share repurchase authorization on Thursday as Nvidia's stock fell more than 8%. Nvidia announced a $150 billion buyback in September, believed to be the largest share repurchase authorization of its kind. Nvidia's board has authorized $235 billion in total repurchases when the unused portion of an earlier program is included. Nvidia can choose when to repurchase shares, and the buyback runs through fiscal 2028.
Cramer questioned on Thursday why Nvidia would delay repurchases while the stock was falling. Cramer said, "If the cheapest asset is your stock, you should buy it." Cramer argued that Nvidia could repurchase shares and replenish the authorization rather than allow the stock to keep falling. Cramer had advocated a $500 billion Nvidia buyback earlier this year, describing Nvidia shares as undervalued.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said when the buyback was announced that Nvidia's cash generation supported both technology investment and capital returns to shareholders. Huang said the authorization demonstrated confidence in Nvidia's long-term opportunity.
Nvidia will release quarterly financial results next week. Benzinga Pro data show analysts expect revenue of $109.17 billion, compared with $57.01 billion previously. Benzinga Pro data show analysts expect earnings per share of $2.48, compared with $1.30 previously. Nvidia has exceeded analysts' revenue estimates for 16 consecutive quarters. Nvidia has exceeded analysts' earnings estimates for 15 consecutive quarters. Nvidia shares declined after the previous earnings release despite revenue and earnings exceeding estimates, as guidance indicated slower growth than in recent quarters.
The coming quarterly release could be among Nvidia's most closely anticipated, following the slower-growth guidance. Technology stocks have sold off after the midterm elections, and investors are concerned about the prospects for AI and data-center investments. Nvidia shares traded at $182.85 on Thursday, a decline of 8.6%. Nvidia's 52-week trading range was $164.27 to $243.37. Nvidia shares have fallen 23.5% over the past month. Nvidia shares have declined 3.2% so far in 2026.

Jim Cramer pushed Nvidia to act on its buyback plan as the stock dropped 8.6% on Thursday. He said the risk-to-reward ratio favors buying back shares at current levels, especially with the $150 billion repurchase program in place. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has backed the move as a sign of long-term confidence. The stock is down 23.5% in a month and 3.2% in 2026. Value investing in crypto and equities often hinges on such strategic timing.
