As reported by PANews, Italy's Consob has issued a notice stating that virtual asset service providers (VASPs) registered with OAM must apply to become regulated crypto-asset service providers (CASP) by December 30, 2025, to continue operations under the EU’s MiCAR framework. Failure to comply will result in the prohibition of services by December 30, 2025, with a final deadline of June 30, 2026. Consob urged investors to verify if their VASP is applying for a CASP license and is registered with ESMA or OAM, and to reclaim assets if the provider is unauthorized. VASPs not seeking CASP authorization must cease operations, terminate contracts, and return user funds by December 30, 2025, and disclose their exit plans to users.
