Israeli startup Oak has launched publicly after raising a $60 million seed round. The company specializes in identity and access management for enterprises using AI agents, cloud applications, and personnel. Its product is already deployed at several undisclosed companies. As value investing in crypto gains momentum, Oak’s solution addresses a critical pain point in enterprise security. The startup aims to simplify access control amid growing complexity in IAM systems, as support and resistance levels in enterprise technology adoption shift with accelerating AI integration.
CoinDesk reports:

As companies integrate employees, cloud applications, and AI agents into their daily operations, the limitations of traditional identity and access management tools are becoming increasingly apparent. Israeli startup Oak has publicly launched, focusing on unified management of internal enterprise access, and has disclosed that it completed a $60 million seed round last year.

Oak stated that the product has officially been launched to the market and has been deployed in environments of select enterprise customers, though customer names have not been disclosed. The company noted that most existing identity management systems were built on logic from the early cloud era and are facing increasing maintenance complexity and security risks due to the surge in permission relationships introduced by AI agents participating in workflows.

Targeting AI Agent Permission Management

Oak was co-founded by serial entrepreneurs Shai Morag and Tal Marom. The two believe that businesses today must manage not only employee accounts but also access permissions for automated programs, machine identities, and AI agents, making traditional IAM tools more prone to issues such as expired permissions, redundant authorizations, and undetected anomalous access.

According to Oak, the company spent months consulting with 100 chief information security officers and IAM leaders before developing its product and building an AI-connected framework. This system adjusts access permissions based on actual application usage and removes permissions in real time when they are no longer needed, rather than relying solely on periodic reviews.

The founding team comes from the security industry.

Morag has over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and has achieved three entrepreneurial exits, including the sale of his security company Secdo to Palo Alto Networks in 2018. In 2023, publicly traded cybersecurity company Tenable acquired his cloud identity security startup Ermetic for $265 million, after which Morag remained as Chief Product Officer.

Subsequently, he co-founded another venture with Tal Marom, a former colleague from Tenable, who has held product roles at Salesforce and the Israeli military. Oak has already assembled a team of approximately 50 people during its stealth phase and is continuing to hire, with a focus on expanding in the U.S. market.

$60 million seed round completed

This funding round was co-led by Accel, CRV, and Greylock Partners, with participation from AlphaDrive Ventures, Hetz Ventures, and several angel investors. Morag said the project attracted strong venture capital interest from the outset.

Oak expects that as more companies adopt AI for automation and collaboration, the identity management space will attract increased competition. For the company, the next priority is to rapidly scale product deployment and sales to establish a stronger foothold in a market dominated by traditional vendors.
