Investor Mark Moss said Bitcoin could reach $1 million by 2030 and potentially $43 million by 2050 if Bitcoin captures a growing share of global wealth. Moss challenged veteran investor Jeremy Grantham, who predicted that Bitcoin could eventually decline toward zero. Grantham previously warned about the dot-com bubble and the 2008 financial crisis.
Moss applied a venture capital valuation framework rather than historical Bitcoin price patterns, halving cycles or stock-to-flow models. The framework estimates Bitcoin's future value using the size of markets Bitcoin could disrupt and the share Bitcoin might capture. Moss identified real estate, equities, bonds, gold, fiat money and collectibles as competing stores of wealth. Moss's model valued those markets collectively at around $994 trillion in 2025. Moss's model projected that those markets could expand to $1.5 quadrillion by 2030.
Moss estimates that Bitcoin could reach a $21 trillion market capitalization, or almost $1 million per coin, with 1.5% market penetration. Moss projected that the global store-of-value market could reach $3 quadrillion by 2040. Moss projected that Bitcoin could reach $11 million by 2040 with 8% market penetration. Moss projected that the global store-of-value market could reach $6 quadrillion by 2050. Moss projected that Bitcoin could reach $43 million by 2050 with 15% market penetration. Moss argued that Bitcoin could rise sharply by capturing small shares of traditional asset markets. The projections depend on speculative adoption assumptions.
Moss highlighted growing institutional adoption as a key catalyst for Bitcoin's long-term appreciation. Moss cited portfolio allocation recommendations ranging from 1% at JPMorgan to 7% at BBVA. Moss argued that even modest increases in institutional exposure could generate substantial capital inflows, supported by expanding access through banks, brokerages and financial advisers. Moss also identified Bitcoin's fixed supply and rising government debt as factors strengthening Bitcoin's long-term appeal.
CryptoQuant's Axel Adler noted on October 12 that the market absorbed 220,374 BTC last week. Adler said net exchange outflows of 3,863 BTC signaled sustained buying demand despite elevated inflows.
