Injective has launched SICI, an on-chain index that tracks the rental prices of five NVIDIA GPUs. The index provides trading exposure through perpetual contracts, with up to 10x leverage available.
Injective believes that the next financial opportunity in AI is not just in the companies building these systems, but in the cost of running them. The blockchain has officially launched the Super Intelligence Compute Index (SICI), enabling traders to gain exposure to NVIDIA GPU rental prices through perpetual contracts.
Injective will bring AI computing power prices on-chain.
The new SICI index combines the rental rates of five NVIDIA GPUs into a single on-chain benchmark. Its launch targets a market that is growing increasingly important, as demand for AI training, inference, and autonomous agents continues to rise.
The weights for the index are as follows: H100 at 40%, B200 at 25%, H200 at 15%, A100 at 10%, and RTX 4090 at 10%. Together, these components track rental pricing across different hardware generations and compute workloads.
Injective does not treat computing power merely as an operational expense, but rather prices it as an asset that traders can access through financial markets. Whether this exposure will generate demand remains to be seen.
Why NVIDIA GPU rental prices are important now
Investment in AI infrastructure is expanding, while rental prices remain dispersed across different cloud providers and hardware types. SICI aims to aggregate these prices using hourly data from the computing power market.
This launch also continues Injective’s existing strategy to enter the AI-related market. The network has previously launched an on-chain H100 rental market, introduced the AIX index, and offered pre-IPO perpetual contracts linked to companies such as OpenAI, SpaceX, and Anthropic.
Today, the focus has shifted from the AI companies themselves to the infrastructure supporting them.
Can SICI establish a sustainable trading market?
Injective stated that a new financial primitive for accessing SICI will be launched in the coming days. Currently, perpetual contracts provide exposure with up to 10x leverage, which can amplify both gains and losses.
The bigger question is whether traders will continue using these products as the demand for AI infrastructure evolves. SICI offers a new way to trade the GPU leasing economy, but a novel index does not guarantee lasting liquidity.
Injective has launched SICI, bringing AI computing power pricing into on-chain finance. The next challenge is to demonstrate that this emerging market can attract sustained trading activity.
