In accordance with The Crypto Basic, Indiana lawmakers have introduced House Bill 1042, which would allow public funds across the state to invest in Bitcoin and crypto ETFs. The bill, led by Rep. Kyle Pierce and co-sponsored by Reps. Jake Teshka, Christopher Judy, and Heath VanNatter, aims to update investment policies for public savings, retirement systems, and the state’s 529 education plan. It also expands the state treasurer’s authority to include stablecoin ETFs and blocks local governments from imposing restrictions on crypto mining or digital asset use. The bill is currently under review by the House Committee on Financial Institutions.
