A cybersecurity official who previously held senior positions at the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Security Agency, bringing nearly 40 years of experience in technology, cybersecurity, and strategic management. At IGEL, he will focus on advancing the IGEL Adaptive Secure Endpoint Platform™ (IASEP™) in areas such as Zero Trust, cyber resilience, AI, and multi-framework governance for government agencies and critical industries worldwide.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, October 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Global software company IGEL® today announced the appointment of renowned Zero Trust security methodology leader and architect Randy Resnick as Head of Technology for Government and Critical Industries.
Resnick has nearly 40 years of experience in technology, cybersecurity, and project leadership, having served in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the National Security Agency (NSA). Prior to joining IGEL, he most recently served as Director and Chief Advisor of the DoD’s Zero Trust Portfolio Management Office, leading the advancement, coordination, and implementation of Zero Trust across one of the world’s largest and most complex technical environments.
He is the author of the U.S. Department of Defense’s original Zero Trust strategy and played a key role in developing the DoD and national security systems’ Zero Trust reference architecture, maturity model, innovation lab, and independent assessment methodologies. His work transformed Zero Trust from a theoretical concept into an actionable national defense strategy. Prior to this, Resnick spent over 34 years at the NSA, holding numerous senior technical roles, including Head of Zero Trust Strategy, Director of Cybersecurity Innovation, Director of Information Security Engineering, and Chief of the NSA Red Team. For these contributions, he has received multiple honors, including the 2024 Wash100 Award and recognition as a 2024 Cybersecurity Visionary by CyberScoop 50.
IGEL CEO Klaus Oestermann said: “Randy is an internationally recognized leader in Zero Trust. His role as an advisor is especially valuable to IGEL’s customers and partners, as he can translate transformative cybersecurity concepts—from strategy and architecture to project development and real-world implementation. The combination of technical vision, leadership, and execution aligns perfectly with IGEL’s needs for the next phase of growth of the IGEL Adaptive Secure Endpoint Platform™.”
Connect to national security standards and critical business infrastructure
Resnick’s transition from a leadership role in Zero Trust strategy within the defense sector to a commercial software leadership position is seen as a strong market endorsement of IGEL’s platform strategy. IGEL states that the company is developing its IASEP™ platform to address security challenges in enterprise endpoint environments encompassing IT, OT, cloud, applications, containers, open-source technologies, AI, and users. The platform integrates a control plane, data plane, and execution plane, enabling organizations to enforce security policies, deploy trusted execution environments, and generate governance evidence across diverse workloads.
Resnick will contribute to expanding these capabilities and drive the translation of national-level frameworks into proven architectures applicable to commercial critical infrastructure and government departments, covering sectors such as financial services, healthcare, transportation, energy, and utilities. His responsibilities will also extend internationally to include NATO countries, Five Eyes nations, as well as Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the Middle East.
Resnick said: “The IASEP™ platform gives us the opportunity to apply these experiences more broadly and securely at the enterprise edge, embedding trust, resilience, and governance across IT, OT, and emerging workloads, through an architecture that organizations can easily scale according to their own needs.”
John Walsh, Senior Vice President and Technical Lead for Government and Critical Industries at IGEL, added: “I’ve known Randy for years through his work at the NSA, and I’ve continued to follow his efforts in driving the development and implementation of Zero Trust strategies within the Department of Defense. I deeply respect his technical leadership, project discipline, and ability to transform transformative ideas into large-scale operational capabilities.”
Expand architectural capabilities through ecosystem extension
IGEL stated that Resnick will work closely with customers and internal product, engineering, partner, and marketing teams to translate the needs of government and critical industries into repeatable platform capabilities. This effort will also integrate with the IGEL Ready ecosystem, connecting IASEP™ with technology partners in chip solutions, identity management, networking, SASE/SSE, cloud, virtualization, and AI. The company said this will deliver increasingly sophisticated security and operational outcomes, spanning identity, network segmentation, access control based on security compliance conditions, workload isolation, context-driven security policies, monitoring, resilience, and governance.
