Hyperliquid has initiated a validator vote to determine if nearly $1 billion in HYPE tokens should be considered burned. The tokens, held in the protocol’s Assistance Fund, are currently inaccessible without a private key. If approved, the tokens will be removed from the circulating and total supply of the HYPE token. The vote aims to align the token’s supply metrics with the protocol’s actual mechanics. A stake-weighted decision is expected by December 24.
