Hyperliquid Corporate Treasuries Hold 13.3% of HYPE Tokens. Digital asset market data shows corporate treasuries hold 31 million HYPE tokens, or 13.3% of the circulating supply. Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. (NASDAQ: PURR) controls 29.3 million of these, valued at over $1.6 billion. The company spent more than $216 million to build the position. HYPE is the native token used for governance, staking, and trading incentives on the Hyperliquid Layer-1 blockchain. For the nine months ending March 31, 2026, the firm reported a $165.4 million net loss, partly from unrealized losses on the treasury holdings. Trading volume on the platform remains a key indicator of market activity.

Corporate digital asset treasuries have quietly amassed 31 million HYPE tokens, the native asset of the Hyperliquid Layer-1 blockchain. That stash represents 13.3% of the token’s circulating supply, a concentration level that dwarfs what corporate treasuries hold in Bitcoin or Solana.

The dominant force behind this accumulation is Hyperliquid Strategies Inc., which trades on NASDAQ under the ticker PURR. The company holds roughly 29.3 million of those 31 million tokens, making it less of a trend and more of a one-company show with a few supporting actors.

The MicroStrategy playbook, applied to DeFi

Hyperliquid Strategies went public through a reverse merger in December 2025, and it hasn’t been shy about deploying capital since. The company has invested over $216 million to build its HYPE treasury position, which is currently valued north of $1.6 billion based on prevailing token prices.

For context, corporate treasury holdings of Bitcoin sit at around 4.9% of BTC’s circulating supply. Solana treasury holdings clock in at roughly 2.8%. HYPE’s 13.3% corporate ownership figure makes those numbers look modest.

HYPE’s maximum token supply is capped at 1 billion tokens, though the current circulating supply sits somewhere between 222 million and 253 million. At the lower end of that range, corporate treasuries control nearly 14% of all tokens in circulation. At the upper end, it’s still over 12%.

What HYPE actually does

HYPE launched in 2024 via a community airdrop, a distribution method that gave the token broad initial ownership before corporate buyers started accumulating. The token serves multiple functions within the Hyperliquid ecosystem: governance participation, staking rewards, trading incentives, and gas fee payments on the platform.

Hyperliquid Strategies has specifically flagged staking and yield strategies as core to its approach, meaning the tokens aren’t just sitting in a wallet collecting dust.

Hyperliquid itself operates as a high-performance decentralized exchange with its own Layer-1 blockchain. The platform has carved out a niche in the perpetual futures market, competing with both centralized exchanges and other DeFi protocols. Its on-chain order book model differentiates it from the automated market maker approach used by many decentralized competitors.

The risk side of the ledger

Hyperliquid Strategies reported a net loss of $165.4 million for the nine months ending March 31, 2026, driven partly by unrealized losses on its treasury holdings.

The company’s holdings have also grown rapidly. As of late April 2026, per Q3 2026 filings, Hyperliquid Strategies held approximately 20 million HYPE tokens. The current figure of 29.3 million suggests the company added nearly 10 million tokens in a relatively short window, indicating continued aggressive accumulation.
