Hyperliquid has filed applications with the SEC and CFTC to list equity perpetual futures as security futures, aiming to clarify the regulatory status of such products in U.S. markets. The exchange previously recorded $3 million in 24-hour volume on its first Anthropic Pre-IPO market. This move could enhance liquidity in crypto markets by aligning with CFTC compliance frameworks.

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Hyperliquid’s Policy Center posted on X stating that the world’s largest perpetual futures market has developed offshore because U.S. regulators have yet to answer a fundamental question: Are these products futures or swaps? The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) began addressing this issue in May, permitting the first perpetual contracts to be listed on U.S. exchanges as futures contracts. Now, Hyperliquid’s Policy Center has applied to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the CFTC for confirmation that equity perpetuals can be listed as security futures. Such confirmation would provide the necessary regulatory clarity for these products to return to onshore markets.

Previously, the first Anthropic Pre-IPO market launched on Hyperliquid, with a 24-hour trading volume of nearly $3 million.
