Hong Kong, August 13, 2026 — HashKey Holdings Limited (3887.HK), Asia’s established comprehensive digital asset company, announced that its licensed trading platform, HashKey Exchange (“HashKey”), has completed the first regulated transaction of the Hong Kong dollar stablecoin HKDAP in collaboration with MetLife International Limited (“MetLife”), and will continue advancing the real-world application of HKDAP, Hong Kong’s first regulated HKD stablecoin, in insurance payment scenarios.
HashKey Exchange is one of the first authorized distributors of the Hong Kong dollar stablecoin HKDAP, issued by DianDian Financial Technology, Hong Kong’s first licensed stablecoin issuer.
This use case test successfully completed the subscription and redemption process for HKDAP using real funds, laying a solid foundation for MetLife Insurance’s future integration of a regulated stablecoin payment solution. Subject to relevant regulatory requirements and in line with MetLife Insurance’s plans, the company intends to support customers in paying premiums using HKDAP in the future. MetLife Insurance expressed its desire to collaborate with HashKey Exchange to actively explore the application of the regulated Hong Kong dollar stablecoin HKDAP in insurance payment scenarios, aiming to become one of the first insurers in Hong Kong to support premium payments via the regulated HKDAP.
This use case aims to verify improvements to the premium payment experience in two aspects:
- Settlement efficiency has been significantly improved: Traditional premium payments require 2-3 business days for settlement confirmation, while HKDAP on-chain payments enable nearly real-time settlement, greatly shortening the processing cycle.
- Flexible and convenient payments: Customers can purchase HKDAP using Hong Kong dollars via the HashKey Exchange platform, or use their existing HKDAP balance, withdraw it to their wallet, and pay premiums—all with a simple process that aligns with online payment habits.
The application validation based on real-world use cases represents a significant step toward integrating regulated Hong Kong dollar stablecoins into traditional financial services. By connecting stablecoin issuers, licensed trading platforms, and insurance institutions, HashKey Exchange further leverages its platform capabilities to bridge digital assets with traditional finance, helping expand regulated Hong Kong dollar stablecoins into a broader range of financial services and real-world payment scenarios.
In the future, HashKey Exchange will continue to deepen collaboration with financial institutions and industry partners, exploring the application of HKDAP in scenarios such as insurance, corporate payments, and cross-border trade, to promote the steady development of Hong Kong’s stablecoin ecosystem.
