Gumi and SBI launch an $18.3 million crypto fund focused on Bitcoin and altcoins. Managed by SBI Crypto Fund, the fund will employ staking, rebalancing, and hedging strategies. Investors include Daiwa Securities. Gumi aims to connect Japanese companies with the crypto market amid evolving regulations. The move follows mixed sentiment in the crypto market, as reflected by the Fear & Greed Index.

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Japanese game developer Gumi announced it will launch a ¥3 billion (approximately $183 million) cryptocurrency asset fund on Saturday in partnership with SBI Financial Services, with support from Daiwa Securities Group and other investors. The fund is operated by SBI Crypto Fund, a joint venture in which SBI Financial Services holds a 51% stake and Gumi’s subsidiary gC Labs holds 49%. The fund will primarily invest in Bitcoin and major altcoins, employing strategies such as staking, portfolio rebalancing, and hedging. Gumi stated that the fund aims to connect Japan’s corporate sector with the crypto market and establish an operational track record ahead of a potential future lifting of Japan’s ban on crypto ETFs. Gumi’s crypto business also includes proprietary crypto asset management centered on XRP, portfolio management services offered through Hinode Technologies, and crypto investment funds. Gumi’s latest annual report shows that, as of April 30, 2026, it held ¥14.13 billion in crypto assets—nearly double the ¥7.58 billion held a year earlier.
