CoinDesk reports:

Shenzhen, China, October 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As AI-powered smartphones and PCs, wearables, robots, smart home products, and intelligent cockpits become increasingly intelligent and feature-rich, secure identity authentication is becoming a foundational capability for IoT and AI edge devices.

To meet this demand, Goodix Technology today introduces a multi-layered solution portfolio featuring fingerprint Match-on-Host (MoH), Match-on-Chip (MoC), and a new integrated Fingerprint MoC + eSE solution. This comprehensive product lineup, based on capacitive, optical, and ultrasonic fingerprint sensing technologies, is designed to help IoT and AI device manufacturers achieve faster, more flexible, and more secure authentication.

Fingerprint and security go hand in hand to support trusted AI edge authentication.

Goodix offers a three-layer fingerprint solution designed to provide greater flexibility and enhanced security for a wide range of edge AI needs. In addition to the mainstream Match-on-Host (MoH) and Match-on-Chip (MoC) solutions, Goodix has introduced an innovative all-in-one Fingerprint MoC + eSE solution that delivers hardware-level security protection.

Fingerprint MoC: Complies with SDCP security standards

In the MoC solution, the entire biometric process—image capture, feature extraction, template storage, and matching—is completed within the fingerprint module. This solution complies with the Secure Device Connection Protocol (SDCP) and supports unique keys for each device to help protect fingerprint data and its communication with the main processor.

Fingerprint MoC + eSE Solution: Provides hardware-level protection for critical credentials

For applications requiring enhanced security, Goodix combines its high-performance eSE chip with its fingerprint MoC solution to protect users’ critical assets through hardware-enforced physical isolation. Assets such as API keys and account login tokens are isolated from the main processor and stored in a trusted eSE chip certified to internationally recognized security standards. The fingerprint MoC transmits matching results to the eSE via an encrypted channel, enabling the eSE to verify whether the interaction has been authorized by a legitimate user.

Goodix's security solution also supports full implementation of FIDO2 authentication and TLS 1.3. API keys and OAuth tokens are securely managed within the secure element throughout their entire lifecycle, and communications are end-to-end encrypted. This establishes a zero-trust architecture on the device: never trust, always verify.

When credentials are used to access a cloud-based LLM, they are transmitted over an encrypted channel from the secure element to the cloud and are never exposed in plaintext to the main processor.

eSE also supports security policy enforcement, including biometric user authorization for high-risk operations and tamper-proof audit logs to prevent AI agents from altering records.

Comprehensive technical coverage, compatible with diverse device designs

Goodix offers a comprehensive portfolio of fingerprint technologies, backed by leading innovations and a strong market position. Its solutions are widely recognized by global brands and specifically designed for diverse form factors compatible with AI and IoT devices.

Capacitive: Supports various sensor form factors, including flat, curved, circular, square, and narrow strip designs, offering greater design flexibility for AI device developers.

Optical: Works beneath OLED displays and is compatible with various transparent cover glass materials. It supports IR-transparent ink and enables a larger sensing area.

Ultrasonic: Designed specifically for screenless IoT and AI devices, Goodix’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor supports FDT (Finger Pressure Detection) technology. Users can press a designated area on the cover to achieve fast recognition and reliable unlocking, even with wet or oily fingers.

According to IDC, China’s market for security AI agents is projected to reach $1.6 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate exceeding 230%. Goodix stated that it will continue to deepen the integration of biometric and security technologies, collaborating with global customers and partners to deliver safer and smarter experiences for AI smartphones and PCs, AI wearables, smart homes, robotics, and intelligent cockpits.
