In accordance with BitcoinWorld, German and Swiss authorities have permanently shut down Cryptomixer, a cryptocurrency mixing service accused of laundering $1.4 billion. Europol coordinated the operation, during which authorities seized three servers in Zurich, €25 million in Bitcoin, and 12 terabytes of data. The service, active since 2016, was used by ransomware gangs, dark web markets, and other criminal networks to obscure the origins of illicit funds. The takedown is a major step in the global effort to combat crypto-based money laundering.
