Sources say that New York-based AI startup General Intuition is negotiating a new funding round with a pre-money valuation of approximately $6 billion. New investors expected to participate in this round include Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six, while existing shareholders Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst will also continue to invest.
Valuation has risen significantly within weeks.
This means the company’s valuation has surged significantly again in a short period. Just weeks ago, General Intuition completed a $320 million funding round at a $2.3 billion valuation. Individuals close to the transaction say the latest round is still being finalized, but demand for participation has already exceeded the planned scale.
The project begins with game data.
General Intuition is one of the most closely watched companies in the recent "Physical AI" space. The company aims to train a general foundational model that enables AI agents to take actions in space and time, rather than merely processing text or images.
Its founder and CEO, Pim de Witte, spun off the project from the gaming clip platform Medal in October last year. The company’s early data came from hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay recorded on the platform, along with “action labels” indicating which buttons players pressed at various points in time.
The new funds will be invested in robotics.
People close to the transaction said the company plans to primarily use the new funding to enhance the capabilities of its general-purpose model, with a focus on robotic platforms. This means the company will increase investment in computing infrastructure and continue expanding its team.
- The pre-money valuation of this funding round is approximately $6 billion.
- A few weeks ago, a round of valuation was approximately $2.3 billion.
- The previous round of funding amounted to $320 million.
Disclosed information indicates that General Intuition has a partnership with neolab, a subsidiary of the cloud computing company CoreWeave. The report also notes that Valor Equity Partners, which is considering participating in this round, previously gained attention for its investment in SpaceX; if this transaction is finalized, it would mark its first bet on an AI lab since investing in SpaceX.
