According to ME News, on August 7 (UTC+8), Galaxy Research revealed that, based on victim reports, it is now highly confident that approximately 1,719 bitcoins (valued at around $111 million) were stolen due to a vulnerability in Coldcard hardware wallets, with additional suspicious funds still under verification; total losses are expected to exceed $130 million. Galaxy has received over 250 victim reports. Galaxy Research further stated that no creation records of stolen tokens appeared on-chain prior to the release of the affected Coldcard firmware on March 17, 2021, and there is currently no evidence that this vulnerability impacts any other signing devices or wallets besides the Coldcard Mk3, Mk4, Mk5, or Q. The affected scope is limited to the aforementioned devices running firmware versions released after March 17, 2021 (Source: Foresight News).
